[Autograph book] / Hannah C. Scott. [1848-1859?]

This autograph book contains names with occasional dates between 1848 and 1856. Many of the names entered appear to be in the same hand (Scott's?). Often a signature of a male name will be followed immediately by a female name (possibly father/daughter); the females may have been students of Scott's. Among the names entered in the book are Emily L. Norcross (1829-1852), Monson, Mass. (cousin of Emily Dickinson and her roommate at Mount Holyoke Seminary). Abigail B. Dickinson's entry is dated Apr. 8, 1856: "This day numbers 77 years to this feeble hand..." Many of the signatures are from Massachusetts and other parts of New England, with several from countries outside of the U.S. Five pages feature an array of tromp l'oeil calling cards.
